Invited someone to dimsum in Oakland and now every middle aged Asian immigrant lesbian is maybe coming to it
I want to be a dimsumfluencer

After all of the breathless SF doom loop coverage, SF is apparently back:
- return to office policies
- traffic
- rising rents
- billionaire mayor
- homeless people bussed out to other cities
Is that what being back means?
I am in fact probably allergic to anyone even claiming they have The Answers
I feel like where Iβm at with philosophical inquiry is who the fuck knows anything and anyone who claims to is probably a cult leader or politician or both
Other than the murders and other crimes the other great crime that Internet rationalists have inflicted on the world is now every middle aged white dude in tech tries to write like fucking slatestarcodex / slatescott
That is to say, terribly, in the most verbose ways
Iβve been adjacent to so many people in these cults and βcommunitiesβ for so long
I think what inoculated me against joining something like this is that I grew up evangelical Christian and I am extremely allergic to dudes (usually dudes, organized and unorganized religious groups) saying they have All The Answers

Oh look, a βrationalistβ writes about why their community has produced cults and murderous vegans

I learned today that if I say βgood boyβ, I must give him a treat immediately

I sometimes joke that I have so many interests and hobbies because of ADHD. It is partly true, but in general I feel great motivation from 'things that amuse me / make me laugh / fascinate me' (while I'm completely unable to do things that do not amuse me or fascinate me)
Sometimes little seeds of ideas get planted in some unexpected ways. I was trying to think of why I suddenly want to learn to play flamenco guitar.
A few years ago, I randomly went to a concert in the Mission and I was extremely moved by it. It was Antonio Rey and Pepele Mendez, two world class musicians in the field. I did not know anything about flamenco (or about them).
I will probably never run out of things to do or learn, and I like that very much. It can be big things (like learn a new instrument!) or small things (like improve my handwriting).
in a world of specialists, i kind of like that people probably find me hard to pin down. i have had many, many lives. am i a food writer? photographer? ai ethics researcher? aquarium worker? musician? novelist?
WHY NOT ALL?
labels are limiting!
Still working through last week's ideas... mostly learning how to crochet :)
