Childless cat lady.

Feral historian, recovering journalist, editor, concertina player, native plant gardener, lesbian. (Very) minor goddess.

Oh, and I'm crazy for volcanoes.

I boost A LOT. Don't want to see my boosts?

Sorry about making people get my approval to follow me, but some jerks ruined things for everyone by behaving badly.

If you want me to follow you, it helps a lot if you have a profile that helps me understand who you are. A nice
#introduction pinned to your profile will impress me even more. : )

If you're new to Mastodon, making some interesting posts and boosts tells me that I'd be a fool to
not follow you.

I'm Sarah, a writer/editor in #PortlandOregon. Tech writing recently, but also radio/print journalism. I have 2 unfinished history master's theses (ask me).Strong interests in politics, history, Japanese woodblock prints, maps, geology, volcanoes, corvids, marsupials, books, jazz & science fiction.

I live with my cats Rua, Olive, and Luna; the feral Stripy Cat; and unkempt gardens of native plants. I play Irish music on concertina & fiddle.

This is probably the best piece I've ever read on how journalists have reported on long covid, and how their reports has affected the lives of people living with long covid.

Don't pass this piece up.

' We [journalists] are not neutral actors, reporting on the world at a remove; we also create that world through our choices, and we must do so with purpose, care and compassion. '
