Oh lordy, it's going to hit 32⁰C tomorrow.
I don't like this.

I'd rather look to things like Great British Railways, nationalising the franchises, and decarbonising the grid (which is going extraordinarily well, despite Tory and Green efforts to impede infrastructure projects to support it).
GB Energy may yet become one too, as may the sovereign wealth fund, and with the record boost to funding and planned reforms the NHS may yet return to being at the very pinnacle of our national pride.
You know what we need though? A good bridge project. I love a good bridge. Let's build one somewhere.
I don't disagree with this — the Elizabeth Line is frigging great — but I roll my eyes at the idea that one train line in one city is all we can point to as good about modern Britain.
It reminds me of all that 'Olympic spirit' bollocks, where somehow Danny Boyle's opening ceremony in 2012 was some great coalescing moment for the country. Bleurgh.

Best unit of measurement?
All four of these are great units, but I'm glad the correct choice won out. Moles are by far the best.
One of the best things about them is that you sometimes get to refer to micro moles, which conjures some fantastic imagery in the mind.
The Palestinian position at the UN is now pretty damn close to Israel's: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c1dxndnkq6yt?post=asset%3Ad1295fa5-68f0-46ef-a22e-5ef831652405#post
Both sides agree now that Hamas must step down and disarm. Palestine wants the PA to take over governance of the strip, while Israel says a new civilian administration must be established.
There's nuance around the security situation to follow but I think there's probably more consensus around the path to peace now than at any previous point in this conflict.
Down to the last few dozen now, and the police have drawn the perimeter in close. I'm heading off now.
I'm glad I came. I got some great photos and I'm sure I'll remember this one forever, horrid and harrowing though some of the chaos was.
Now for some stiff drinks.
I was going to comment on this in my blog post I'm writing about the protest: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/aug/10/police-arrest-hundreds-london-protest-over-palestine-action-ban
Of every obvious arrestable I saw there, a solid majority were old. The reason is obvious — they've sufficient security in their lives and livelihoods that they can survive being arrested.
There were a good few younger folks though, who are likely to suffer lifelong consequences for these arrests.
The total on Saturday was 532 arrests per the newer article.
Turned 40, immediately became obsessed with Hawkwind.
Best unit of measurement?
This is hard to explain but I have a small collection of Ben Garrison webcomics edited to be about cum.
