"Slavery gives us the best and the worst - simultaneously"
There's a lot of AI advocacy saying that the results are or can be good, that they do help, and some work can be done for higher accuracy. You know what ? Let's assume they are correct all the time with 100% certainty. You know what also works all the time ? Slavery !
Slavery has bad sides, blegh, but it has extremely good sides as well: you get free work, you get a very visible marker of status, it doesn't even stop people to consider you as a great guy ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson_and_slavery ).
And yet, today slavery is considered bad. We consider the bad sides to not be acceptable at all, so we won't even consider the good sides.
What are the bad sides of AI ? Ecological catastrophe, social catastrophe, economical catastrophe are known but most importantly it is fundamentally a project of domination. AI doesn't work without a majority of people being used, being exploited, being dependent on a few people, no matter the regulation or the technical progress that can be made. There is no AI without you not deciding how money should be spent, how land should be used, how people should live or work. There is no AI in a democratic world, only in an authoritarian world (States, by construction, are authoritarian, however its people are chosen)
To me if someone considers the good sides of AI it means its bad sides aren't bad enough. It means the current crop of authoritarianism (capitalism helped by white supremacism) isn't too bad, which mostly is a rich white men thing. of course domination isn't a problem, they're on the good side of it: this is what the capitalist society is built on, this is how they got their status. Saying no to domination means saying no to their ego, it's questioning the whole identity of what they learned all their life.
Today if you are pro-AI I will assume you are a white supremacist and it will be on you to explain why you are ok with domination

Hey
