In lieu of an #introduction:

Hi all, I'm new on this instance but not new to Mastodon. I first joined mastodon.social almost three years ago. Recently I decided to move to a different instance for a few reasons, mainly because it has been recommended to do so by a number of credible people.

I picked aus.social because it is closer to home and appears to be a well-maintained, well-moderated instance. While I am German by birth and occasionally post in German, I live in Australia and so this seemed to be a good fit.

My posts will be about model trains (often), real trains (quite often), political and social commentary (too often), and general snark. Let's just say if you like trains and railways, I hope to be able to add a smidgen of enrichment to your feed.

This is also the longest post I have made on Mastodon so far, because aus.social has a higher character limit 😁
