#FollowTheMoney An ongoing π§΅
I started a while back and add to every now and then. Inspired by this initial piece by #GaryStevensonon, it is rag bag of somewhat eclectic thoughts and pieces, on how money flows towards the rich and away from others, and how this shapes everything. Today at 80 posts - letβs see how long it will get! https://mastodon.green/@pvonhellermannn/112047945347154458
#ClimateDiary Everything is fine, everything is normal.
Alaskaβs capital city of Juneau is urging many residents to evacuate, bracing for the arrival of what could be record floodwaters flowing downstream from a basin dammed by the areaβs Mendenhall Glacier, with the event being driven by climate change amid glacial retreat, according to a federal agency.

My discipline, anthropology, is not seen as a βgrowth" discipline, and departments are being closed down. But the world needs Anthropology and Anthropologists now more than ever!
Here are my 8 reasons for this:
1. POSSIBILITIES
At a time of polycrisis, when the destructive fallouts of capitalist modernity are ever more apparent, anthropology highlights that there are myriad alternative ways of thinking and living; that there is so much to learn from other peoples in the world. 1/n
LAUNCH of #ClimateDiary
Hashtag
I've been thinking for a while that it would be good to have a collective Climate Diary (along the lines of the Sussex Mass Observation project): people from across the world recording and sharing everyday observations, experiences, thoughts, feelings relating to the #ClimateCrisis
I would like to try out simply using a #Hashtag - #ClimateDiary - here on #Mastodon to create this and I would like to invite you all to join in and share widely! 1/4
1/52 Good to see this Guardian Long Read, but as a historical ecologist I would like to add: humans do not just either stay within boundaries or destroy nature. It's often been a positive, dynamic human-nature symbiosis, with humans actively shaping and creating forests & #biodiversity #historicalecology

I've just published my first ever blog: "The Tragedy of the Non-Commons"
I wrote it in July, frustrated by a Twitter thread about how the Tragedy of the #Commons continues to be taught at universities. I then left it (it's somewhat experiemental) but with #COP27 and #Twittermigration coinciding this week, I just wanted it to be out there. Would love for it to be shared here on our #digitalcommons and grateful for any comments
