Ross of OttawaBrrr, so cold today! Just went for a walk at about -15C but that windchill has got to be below -20.
Painful on the face, but at least we were bundled up otherwise.

We had successfully thawed the 6.2kg turkey (13lbs) over a couple of days, and I was casually considering the spatchcock approach this year for a fun change
The morning got away from me, and when I realized it was already afternoon, the spatchcock approach became a necessity.
But it worked out very nicely. I put the stuffing in the armpits and all was good. Photos skipped, so images are left to the imagination.

Ross of OttawaGuess they've gone somewhat out of fashion, but we're sitting after our walk now with some eggnog, dark fruitcake, and moar #shortbread.
On the #fruitcake front, I've found a good easy cheat is to skip the making-it-from-scratch thing, and buy a supermarket one, then wrap it in plastic wrap and drizzle brandy or rum over it for a week or two.
The result is super rich and tasty. Reminds me of my mother's scratch made fruitcake.

It's the first book of the huge #Discworld series and I've only read one in the middle somewhere, known for being rather standalone.

Ross of OttawaDon't use GMail much, though as an early adopter I have a rare simple user name. Unfortunately that means other Rosses making typos have their customer sat surveys and sign-up conf's sent to me.
I mostly just tag as spam and block, rather than inform the sender of the error, as one never knows which is a phishing attempt vs an error; don't want to confirm a live address.
This morning it was the "Wairakei Resort Taupo, NZ" which sounds like a nice place to visit… but I haven't.
