Ugh, my bank excludes very slightly older Firefox version, and thus #Waterfox, from acceptable browsers

Sounds like a lazy web dev who couldn't be bothered to test compatibility beyond the current version.

Waterfox looks like FF 140.0 to websites, and FF 144 is accepted fine? What is that, a few weeks older?

I've edited my user agent to report as 144 but it's an annoyance I didn't need.

Using a hot-glue gun all afternoon to repair the cat tree's scratchable sisal rope.

I keep thinking about how a hot glue gun is like a drunk 3D printer that prints randomly-shaped things very poorly.

Brr a cold -12C start to the day. If the wind stays gentle I'll want to get out for a while regardless.

Hope the sun can break through a bit. This time of year is nasty for the dwindling vitamin D production. Need to get a good blast of sun in the face.

Was refilling spice jars. Mostly went okay.

Don't ask.

Here's the result. Tea cup for scale, as I was out of bananas.

Buying them in small quantities is helpful so that they retain their flavour reasonably long.

Oh and here are the prices to compare - do these match what you'd probably pay?
(1CDN$ is about 72c US)

Hmm, weird #HomeAssistant behaviour under the Helpers.

My schedule in Helpers gave itself a double of my chosen name. When I edited it to change it to just the single word again, it appears to work, yet the double one is stuck in the there somewhere too.

Any search for a state change element while creating an automation brings up that hidden double version. Weird.

Hoping a restart fixes it. Will file a bug if it doesn't I guess. Messy.

Problem was a leaky needle valve takeoff tap that provides water for a humidifier. It connects just above the hot water tank supply.

I want to replace the hot water tank and associated plumbing soon anyway, so any fix I wanted to avoid installing stuff that gets discarded shortly.

I pre-purchased assorted O-rings based on inspecting a new needle valve (these things are obsolete and being removed from the market).

But the surprise…

Okay, a plumbing thing on my agenda this morning.

I try to anticipate the possible outcomes when I face a repair/reno project. I can think of three possible paths of ascending difficulty, and half a dozen annoying complications possible along the way.

This it could be a 30min job or consume the whole weekend.

Yay - finished my plumbing job with success. Plan 'A' failed due to a surprise, but an innovated plan A.5 allowed me to avoid the more labour intensive plan 'B' that worked.

Details follow for the morbidly curious…
