I rarely do share apps I use on my phone but ScreenZen is one of those rare apps that appear daily on my screen.

I sometimes struggle with self indulgence and especially when it comes to the phone. I can waste hours some days on wasteful browsing and apping.

ScreenZen has actually helped me stop some of these ... harmful behaviours.

Delay opening, interrupt scrolling, block apps and websites, reduce screen time.

Has anyone attempted to map out the maintainers involved for all default packages in a Linux distro?

I think it would be super interesting to visually see the maintainers "landscape" and how they potentially interact through dependencies.

Also from a financing perspective how do all these maintainers sustain themselves?

This is just to vent some frustration, but electricity costs in Sweden are outrageous.

So for our house, I have about $30 of actual buying electricity costs.

But... then the "provider" of this electricity think that it's reasonable that I also pay about $130 for various taxes, vat, some more taxes, some "subscription" of sorts ($70).

... I mean... c'mon the fuck on. Jesus... and I have absolutely NO choice in this, I just have to pay, or be without electricity.

Modern version cartels.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but this post by Daniel Miessler about his personal MCP-exposed "Daemon" is actually pretty cool.

The thing I like is that you choose what you expose, in a machine readable format.

I don't know... it just tickles me a little bit.

I love some of the spam emails I get these days. It's about my Google ranking and SEO optimization and how they can help me significantly improve in this regard.

The irony is that they only found me and are only spamming me because I'm already on the first page of a few keywords.

I wonder how much business these senders really get... I mean... it couldn't possibly pay for itself, could it? But then again... they are doing it so I guess it does... which saddens me greatly.

I can see the allure in delegating hard knowledge work like programming to an AI/LLM. But forgoing the hardship of actually learning how to program will undoubtedly cause bigger and more serious problems down the line.

Today I have probably had at least three mental breakdowns trying to track down some coding issues, messing with Alembic database migrations and fighting the general despair of being a solo-preneur/-developer.

Today has been a day of ups and downs, but I managed to come out on the other end with a few steps closer to the goal of completing a particular feature/component.

Programming is hard, and that's why I love it.

I just published the source code for my very naive #Python implementation for generating a node network based on MITRE Intrusion Sets and Techniques. It will output linked #Markdown files linking intrusion sets to their used techniques.

Perhaps someone finds it useful or interesting to experiment with.

I hinted at this in a thread started by
@Viss@mastodon.social where he asked for input on a few very likely malicious domains. Me @Viss@mastodon.social @cR0w@infosec.exchange @neurovagrant@masto.deoan.org and others did some OSINT fun work with a couple of the original domains.

It was this thread:

Now I posted a picture of a node network rendered in Obsidian and I hinted that perhaps Obsidian could be used as a poor mans version of performing threat intelligence work.

I have created a Github repository with an automatically updated CSV-file containing importable Infosec Mastodon people based on the @LukaszOlejnik@mastodon.social Google sheet.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t13k5_cNhP9_TgoUmqDZk2ROkWkF6Bg3O5269vKIqWw

Perhaps you find it useful, feel free to Boost the post and make sure others can benefit from this IMHO very useful list of Infosec people.

Update: Python-code has been published, and a Dockerfile as well.

Disclaimers et al.
