@mpjgregoire@cosocial.ca I avoided the US during the first Trump administration, and then for most of the pandemic years. But in general, I'd visit once or twice a year.
@mpjgregoire@cosocial.ca I worked with a guy who used to deliver pizza back in the 70s or 80s, and he said he delivered pizza across the border. Apparently it was a really good pizza place in White Rock or South Surrey, and people would order from the States.
*The Kaiju Preservation Society,* by John Scalzi ... slayed. Fun book! It took over half the book before the plot kicked into gear, but it was enjoyable and creative.
*Scooby-Doo!: Mystery Incorporated,* season one ... slayed. It's a fun show -- better than it has any right to be.
*War for the Oaks,* by Emma Bull ... slayed. I love this book.

I love it every time Vonnegut unexpectedly injects himself into the narrative. Like
The Americans arrived in Dresden at five in the afternoon. The boxcar doors were opened, and the doorways framed the loveliest city that most of the Americans had ever seen. [...] It looked like a Sunday School picture of Heaven to Billy Pilgrim.
Somebody behind him in the boxcar said, "Oz." That was I. That was me. The only other city I'd ever seen was Indianapolis, Indiana.
Brilliant move.

Good book. I'm going to have to spend some time sifting through it.

Frieren season one ... slayed. A few days ago, actually.
I liked it. When they got in deep about magic and how it worked, I wasn't particularly interested. When it was about grief and Frieren learning to connect with the world again, I was all in.

Honestly, I think I started reading this one because I wanted something easy to read on my e-reader. I enjoyed it more than the first time I read it. I've also forgotten nearly every story already.
