Random trivia question for which you probably need to be a mathematician:

Complete the following sequence:

I like modal editors, but I can't help feeling like Helix is the DVORAK to neovim's QWERTY: possibly better, but not better enough to be worth relearning how to do things.

And it's not like my vim usage is sophisticated enough that I couldn't switch. I know fewer than 50 vi commands because I'm terrible at remembering commands, which is why I switched to vi in the first place.

(Seriously, I can't remember how to use visual mode or macros without looking it up. Give me time, it's only been about 30 years.)

So, about this β€œsocial media can’t be fixed” article:

https://arstechnica.com/science/2025/08/study-social-media-probably-cant-be-fixed/

I had a personal social media project I was working on, but a few years ago I came to the same conclusion: that the world needed another social media platform like it needed airborne Ebola. I quietly abandoned the project.

Any lingering hope I had that social media could be fixed has been comprehensively demolished by LLMs. It’s just a cancer at this point.

So why am I here? Well, this is the last platform I’m still posting publicly on as I try to wean myself off social media entirely. Every now and again I encounter someone who acts like radiation therapy.

When I moved to the US it took me an embarrassingly long time to work out why there were bears on the Charmin toilet paper wrapper.
