@lispi314@udongein.xyz Well let me put it this way, can you read the decision to build a "computing utility" as anything but political? General Electric alongside Bell Labs and MIT had a vested interest in transposing power structures from the physical world by way of analogy and things like the hierarchical file system worked were a key part of that. Modern implementers continue in a state where they not only ignore the implicit politics of their actions due to conceptual illiteracy, but PERPETUATE such illiteracy intentionally in the name of pretending that this is the best of all possible worlds and nobody has a hope or prayer of doing better.

It really is quite obnoxious how many legacy and modern communication protocols are enabling of petty fiefdoms.

One would think that issue would've been noticed early on and addressed but for whatever reason it was not and remains largely ignored.

The issue seems to boil down to a curious obsession with imposed locally-tree-like hierarchies, instead of dynamic graphs.
