There are 50 candidates running in my local city council election this time around.
I'll skip talking about each candidate's policies and track record since that might just bum everyone out.
But, you know what's super interesting? Looking at their good and bad points is actually a great way to learn a thing or two about how to build a portfolio website and set proper goals.
Phew. Tonight, without relying on the power of AI, I carefully read through every single policy and track record posted online by the candidates running in my local city council election.
The results of this election were defined by a strong conservative backlash.
I myself am a lifelong leftistβso much so that you could call me "far-left"βhaving cast both my single-member district and proportional representation votes for the Japanese Communist Party, as I always do. However, I know exactly why the left always loses.
Most people don't care about politicians misusing their party subsidies, cutting consumption tax, or debating immigration and gender equality quotas.
Those are just topics on the TV news; they have little to do with improving our actual lives.
Furthermore, it's obvious that modern Japan is facing a need to strengthen its national defense. There's no reason for the Japanese majority, who aren't deeply invested in macro-level politics, not to vote for the LDP, especially now that it has a woman at the top.
In short, the opposition candidates have been so fixated on the central power games that they've failed to genuinely address the needs of their local constituents.
The minimum wage in Tokyo, Japan, is just $7.80 USD.
And my hourly wage? $9.77. Not even ten bucks.
Globally speaking, I'm nothing more than working class.
I've got nothing to do with the successful, elite people at the center of the world.
Hey everyone on the fedi.
Here's the view from a lookout point near Tokyo today.
Good morning, my fediverse friends.
As you can see, Tokyo this morning is a total winter wonderland β
οΈ.
The snow really piled up after all. Looks like I've been drafted for snow shoveling duty.
Look! A blanket of snow has covered even Tokyo!

I genuinely love the fediverse here.
Hmm. So Billie Eilish, a celebrity living on ancestral indigenous land, declared something akin to a proper leftist talking pointβthat "there are no illegal immigrants because the U.S. is stolen land"βand was met with a storm of criticism.
However, the privilege of asserting a sound argument is not exclusively reserved for those who are wholly virtuous and philosophically consistent.
Many of those who condemn her are surely content in their own mundane evil. What a petty bunch.
