β€œWe have to face it, Arturo. Sometimes the humans are just… sigh… stupid.” #asstodon

When mom moved into the nursing home I inherited things that she inherited when her parents died and some that they had likewise inherited from their parents. Sentimental stuff only: diaries and photos dating back 110 years, the rest all sold or given away long ago.

We don’t have kids, and no one else has reason to care about these old photos. So there will come a day when someone throws these old objects in the trash. When my memory of these people fades and dies.

But maybe not today.

Before bedtime the donkeys put all their favorite toys away. This cracks me up every time. #asstodon

There are two donkeys inside each of us.

It’s ok, you can feed both of them.

In a disenchanted world the water, soil and air cannot possess rights against humans. Nor can they have any intrinsic value as humans claim for themselves. In such a world their only β€œvalue” can come from their destruction and we imagine ourselves separate from nature and somehow benefiting from that destruction. Imagine instead a world where the nonhuman has personhood every bit as much as we do. Then fight for that.
