I feel old. I am a former medieval historian turned tech pro in 1999.
I read Tanenbaum instead of going to 9 am networks lectures from a guy who had clearly not changed his notes in a decade in 1999.
I have also read K&R and the sysadmin book. I have argued in a bar with Tom Limocelli about the sysadmin book.
ESR has talked to my tits. RMS has blanked me (lucky escape).
Since the mid 2000s OβReilly books are a mixxed bag but I like Alex Higaloβs SLO one for containing actual maths. My fave remains DNS & Bind.
Tech will never be as democratic to access again as it was when I did and more than 25 years later I am still judged for being not technical enough and too technical.
We need to fix this.
