All I ask is that a new follower do ANYTHING to appear credibly human. No posts, no bio, no avatar? Nah. I don't know what the scam is, but such accounts are not Humans Using Social Media.
🆘Bill Cole 🇺🇦I have somehow acquired more followers on the #Fediverse in under 2 years than I ever had at the #FowlPlace in over a decade.
Not so thrilled that it means my 'reach' now seems to extend into a sample that is showing glimmers of Sturgeon's Law at the fringes.
For the 10%’s sake, I can only ask that you read what I write carefully. If you engage, please understand that I’m not here on any sort of crusade and I’m not interested in doing battle. Do not seek a fight.

I’m never going to claim to understand the feelings of non-white or non-cis people. I can’t. I got a lot of gender-tinged peer abuse as a kid but it didn’t bite. A school counselor once called me “unnervingly stoic.” I won’t ever feel constrained or oppressed by society for who I am.
And yet, I can still look at the world rationally & hear the truth of people who justifiably have such feelings, and fight their oppression.

E.g. If I say that one needs to assess one’s own threat model, I AM NOT SAYING A THING ABOUT EVERYONE’S THREAT MODEL! If I say most peoples’ phones are at higher risk from nasties near them than from US cops acting legally, I am absolutely NOT SAYING that US cops do not have a jones for hassling Black people, often illegally.
