Hello new followers - I’m Mike, a glaciologist based at Cardiff University in the UK. My team and I design and build wireless instruments that measure conditions inside glaciers. Currently we have several deployed in Greenland and Yukon, giving us live data.

I’m currently planning a complex field season in Greenland for June/July, where we will deploy more instruments beneath the ice.

I know this is pretty small beer in the light of world events, but I was not expecting to have to write “risk of invasion by the USA” into the risk assessment for my fieldwork in Greenland in June.
