Stay vigilant, stay curious, ground yourself in verifiable reality, and focus on people, not abstractions. There is no single -ism that solves all of our problems. There is always something new we don’t yet understand.

Reality is messy. We must deal with it as it is.

Great post on the New Atheism movement, and how they’re not really that different than the illiberal, antiscientific Right. This review of the book “The War on Science” is rightfully scathing.

Yet another reminder that even previously-progressive atheists can fall deeply into illiberal, conspiracy-ridden, and bigoted thought-traps.

I continue to believe that copyright is the wrong law to use to rein in #AI, because it will not stop AI. What it will do is to create a different group (giant conglomerate copyright holders) that can profit from AI, either directly by owning models, or by licensing their content. Think of Adobe: their stock photo library makes them a naturally dominant player in AI-driven image tools (which they already deploy).
