Here's my dog in begging position number three. He cycles through positions, trying ever-so-subtly to get our attention.
Those are my brown butter cookies. I took some other cookies to a neighbor the other day. Her eyes lit up and she said, "are those your brown butter cookies?" They were not. They were another very delicious recipe, but not brown butter. But she put the idea in my head, so I made some brown butter cookies and took her some today, since she was my inspiration.

It's been ages since I've been able to spend time in the Adirondacks.

A slime mold and maybe a slime mold?

A slime mold growing on the cut edge of a tree stump. It's beige and tan, with a dense network of connections Something pinkish, maybe a slime mold or some kind of wavy fungus, growing on a tree stump. There's snow and ice between the wavy crevices.

These icy mushrooms look like crème brûlée

Mushrooms that have been covered in water and then frozen. Some are dark, but one is right in the sun, making it amber colored, and showing the little crackles in the ice, like a crème brûlée right after you smack it with a spoon.
