I thought this was a rock, but on closer inspection, that sure looks like wood grain.

An irregular snow covered shape, with an almost straight edge on the left, and a large gap at the ground at the right. Under the snow, it's covered with vivid streaks of green.

From what I can tell, this rock snake is more than 1200 long now. I'd like to see it one day not covered by snow.

Three snow covered lumps on the ground. They're painted rocks, covered with enough snow that we can't see the designs, but little enough snow that a bit of color comes through. A feather on the lake shore

Bright green luxuriant moss, with little sporophytes, lit by the sun, with some brown tree leaves behind. Beautiful green ferns and some fallen oak leaves on the forest floor, lit by the sun from behind. A cluster of beige puffball mushrooms growing on a moss-covered tree trunk. Some landscapes

A forest scene. It's noon but we're in the north close to solstice, and the sun is low in the sky, casting long tree shadows towards us. The ground is partly brown, with lovely patches of bright green moss. A gray rocky shore in the bottom third of the photo, deep blue lake in the middle third, and blue sky with a few clouds at the horizon in the top third. We're looking East across lake Champlain, standing in New York, looking at Vermont on the far shore.

A small green plant and algae-covered rocks under shallow water. The bright wavy lines of the caustics are bright green because of the algae. The same view, just a few seconds later, when a wind created some ripples. You can see their distortions at the surface of the water at the upper left of the photo, and at the lower right, the caustics have changed to a series of parallel lines

I got to take a lovely sunny hike today, and I saw some really cool and beautiful things. Like this delicate fern moss growing between the rings of a decomposing tree stump.

Turn the bags inside out, fill with the stuffing. The instructions said to mix the lavender with rice. I also happened to have some old wheat and barley that I didn't think I was ever going to cook, so I threw them in. Tie them shut and voilà!

One sewn fabric bag that is still inside out, with a lot of excess fabric at the bottom, next to several bags that have been turned right side out. Spooning a mixture of lavender and grains into a small fabric bag. A pack of kitchen twine in front of filled fabric bags, some of which have already been tied shut with the twine.
