Gah filling out passport applications. Ridiculous requirements. Canada says you have to use adobe to fill out the application, can't use another pdf reader or web browser. So I had to install it just for this, which took forever and gave me numerous gratuitous popups, then uninstalled it, which again took forever with inexplicable errors and also opened up their website without consent to fill out a survey.

A utility pole with a no littering sign and a no dog poop sign and a $500 fine sign. At the base of the pole, mostly buried in snow, somebody has dumped a large white cabinet with a mirror. A closer look at the white cabinet, with my bike reflected in the mirror.

I called a coworker to discuss something this morning. Between when I dialed and when he picked up, I forgot what I was calling about. Of course I remembered again once I hung up, and called back.

I watched North by Northwest again yesterday. The last time I watched was in high school (and our teacher was creepily giddy about explaining to us the symbolism of the final scene of the train going into a tunnel), so it had been a good while. So I'm obviously late to this realization but: Mission Impossible 2 is basically the same high level plot line. And I suppose plenty of others, as well.

I was explaining to my husband about pep rallies in US high schools. How we were forced to attend, and the teachers guarded all the hallways and doors so we couldn't sneak out.
Husband: "you might as well be telling me about the sex lives of shrimps, for how alien this is to me."

The bad news is that my plantar fasciitis is back and I can't take long walks. The good news is that my own yard is plenty beautiful, and I don't have to walk far to get to it. And it's a gorgeous sunny day here.

A comet storm

Snow on asphalt, blown by the wind and with wheel tracks crossing diagonally at the lower left. The photo has been edited to emphasize the blue tones and contrast. It looks like a lot of comets, with the snow clumps being the "comets" traveling to the right, and the "tails" being the snow that was blown to the left.

A little while ago, my husband sent me an article about Costco. The author said that at Costco, you never seem to get a cart with a bad wheel, like at all the other shops. I had never thought about it, but it's true. But then:
