The rich have decided that democracy was getting to close to interrupting their 4o year project to capture every drop of wealth in the world. We might choose a liveable world over oil oligarchy.
They feed the delusion that 1% could still live on a planet no longer able to produce food, or at least survive by eating treasury bonds salted with their children's tears, or, worst case, we all die but they get to die on top of their champion hoard of oil & silver. "Yay we win" - their last words.
