Checking in on the bog that I replanted on the 16th with a digital magnifier to see how it is settling in. Seems like it's doing okay (most sundew traps are progressing except for a couple and the Venus Flytrap seeds seem to have set). Some moss has burnt tips like it did in the old container and not sure if it's the lighting, dry conditions or something else yet.

Possible origin of the term "The Fediverse" as a term

I'm going from memory, so not sure it's all correct, but usage of the word "Fediverse" early on was typically used with the "!", as a cross-instance general posting group (Fediverse being the "who", in this case "everybody") and was often combined with a subject/topic group (the "what", in the case of !tzag(*), a greeting, which optionally had tags to other subjects or groups.

My prescription computer glasses are...

I am doing a full cleanout of my office to make room for my elliptical trainer, another shelf extension that doubles as a worktable (one is for repairing things and the other for plant care) and this time I'm putting things in zipped fabric storage boxes and labeling them. So far, so good. But, I am at the stage of random, misc and uncategorized items. Things like mounting brackets I'm not using but came with something that I am using. Various conference swag items, etc. This is the danger time.

I will probably end up throwing it all in a box, label it "Random, Misc. and Uncategorized" and then when the time comes that I need something from it in a few months, years, etc. forget that I put it there...

@jasonkoebler@mastodon.social (quoting from the article with inline comments)

"[...] I’m curious if you can explain why it is Meta will be mentioned by name in this piece when in previous 404 reporting regarding ICE facial recognition app and follow up reporting the term β€˜smartphones’ or β€˜phone’ is used despite ICE agents clearly using Apple iPhones and Android devices,” they said. Meta ultimately declined to comment for this story. "

That reads to me as both overly-reactive and overly specific.

@jasonkoebler@mastodon.social and for a moment I was wondering why they communicated that way until I read the next few paragraphs.

Oh.
