Pros:
I know all the area really well
Plenty of RTR stuff available in N nowadays
Cons:
Don't have much of it already
Potentially space needed

A model of scenes from the Brecon & Merthyr Railway, pre-grouping, either in N or 2mm
Pros:
It would be interesting
It would be different
It would be pretty
Cons:
Lots of scratchbuilding
There are lots of nice scenes along the line - Machen works, Machen station, Dowlais Central station, Morlais Jn, Pontsticill station - but stitching them together into one layout would be tricky
It could be biiiig

A model of scenes from the Brecon & Merthyr Railway, pre-grouping, either in N or 2mm
Pros:
It would be interesting
It would be different
It would be pretty
Cons:
Lots of scratchbuilding
There are lots of nice scenes along the line - Machen works, Machen station, Dowlais Central station, Morlais Jn, Pontsticill station - but stitching them together into one layout would be tricky
It could be biiiig

A German branch line terminus in N
Pros:
I already have a plan (cribbed off a German-language website years ago)
Would be mostly out-of-the-box modelling
Low skill needed
Cons:
Space needed, a couple of metres or so protruding from a wall with access both sides
I don't really know much about German trains

A Welsh 2ft gauge line in 009
Pros:
I already have some bits and pieces
I'd potentially be able to get more bits and pieces from @sparrowsion@queer.party
I've got some stuff already (forgot to mention, this applies to idea 1 too)
Small space required compared to other options
Cons:
Some scratchbuilding & kitbuilding required
Bit of a cliche since so much RTR 009 stuff came out

Current header pic is the Deviation section of the Ffestiniog Railway / Rheilffordd Ffestiniog, roughly between Archer's Dam and the site of Llyn Ystradau station.
