I'm waiting for my fifth service call from my internet service provider, in search of a solution to a particularly vexing problem. So far they've changed just about everything and while things have improved, they're not quite stable yet.

After 2025-06-12 14:48:45 UTC, comment form spams from "Eric [fucking] Jones" (clearly not a real name) stopped. Nothing since!
Could at least 15 years of filtering that garbage, which came in as often as five times a day, actually be over?
I'm amazed that the scam lasted that long. Hopefully whoever was behind it has finally shut down.
Not about to remove the filters though.

Some idiot AI sales lead generator just spammed my contact form with a very human sounding message, except it said it just looked at my website and totally guessed wrong about what it does, so no, I'm not interested in having it send similar messages in my behalf, thanks.

That time when you look at the preview frame for a trailer and think "oh my this looks like a car crash" but you have to look and really it turns out to be a massive train wreck and you think "how is this even possible?"
It's possible because of Generative AI, which enables the sort of "unbridled creativity" that would have been curated out of existence in the past.
