Oh hello! I totally saw you there, in fact i've been tracking your movements for months. But I guess we have to pretend we're having a totally normal #introduction. Sure, i know how you take your coffee, where you bury your old batteries, which karaoke song you secretly think you nail and could make you a star but you still have to play it off as a joke even tho it hurts a little more each time. But let's put that aside!
I'm Rach! I'm a #trans woman- I've just started socially transitioning at the best possible time in history to do such a thing! Iβve lived in Atlanta for 25 years, or 33% of my expected lifetime! I made this account just to see what happens. And to connect with people. Maybe I will document my activities in a way that's appealing to others in 1500 character chunks!!
What else?? I am an amateur #musician and #songwriter. I deleted all my pre-transition music and Iβm now remembering how hard it was to build up in the first place. I am a physicist who still does some #physics! Wow! I also pick up random hobbies! Vague!! I used to be #nerdy but now I'm just #boring. I mean obviously

I realized I was #trans when I was a little kid, which unfortunately was early in the first Reagan administration. Iβm not sure if there was a worse time in recent history to be trans in the US. The culture, the media, the government, everyone was 100% in on transphobia.
Like, imagine if our entire current culture suddenly agreed with Trump 100% on trans rights. Not just the asshats and the NYT, but Hollywood, TV, popular music acts. Like taken as a given. Thatβs what it was like to me. Tolerance was a radical, controversial act
I saw all this through wide eyes, it soaked into my brain like a sponge. I had no one to talk to, no one I could trust. I learned to keep it secret for over 40 years. It was so painful
Even now itβs hard for me. Itβs a muscle that wonβt stop twitching. My gen x peers grew up in that stew too, they also carry those lessons with them. But as the punishers, as the stewards of normalcy. At least thatβs been my experience. (This is why they are not all Kurt Cobains and Kathleen Hannahs)
I guess Iβm writing this because Iβm worried weβre heading back there. Iβm worried for folks just realizing theyβre trans right now, and watching the news, hearing their peers. I donβt want them to live like I did
So Iβm glad there are communities like this one for them. That weβre no longer isolated and confused in the dark. Itβs not everything, itβs surely not enough, but we are still way ahead of where we were. These places are miracles. Sometimes I forget that.
