Spanish police on Monday said they had broken up a cell of "The Base", a transnational neo-Nazi white supremacist group designated a terrorist organisation by the European Union, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. At 3,800 metres in the French Alps, eight experienced workers are replacing a 70-year-old footbridge at the summit of Aiguille du Midi, Mont Blanc. The 16-metre steel structure, delivered by helicopter, weighs over two tons and was installed in temperatures of around β20Β°C with winds of 20 km/h. The operation, requiring four months of preparation, took just one hour to complete, and the new bridge is designed to withstand winds up to 254 km/h.

Paris's Louvre museum said Thursday it would raise ticket prices for most non-EU visitors, meaning US, British and Chinese tourists among others will have to pay $37 to get in.
