The Himalayan white-browed rosefinch (Carpodacus thura) is a true finch species (family Fringillidae).
Medium-sized rosefinch of semi-open and brushy habitats. Male is beautiful, with a streaked rich brown back and lilac-pink cheeks, brow stripe, and underparts; note namesake bright white patch at the rear of the brow stripe. Female is streaky brown above and streaky off-white below, with a rusty breast patch.

Meet the Blue Tree Monitor (Varanus macraei) β€” a living sapphire hidden in the forests of Batanta, Indonesia.
It wasn’t until 2001 that scientists even knew this beauty existed. That’s how secretive it is.
But here’s the twist:
Its home is vanishing.
Deforestation, wildlife trade, and habitat loss threaten this rare reptile β€” and most people don’t even know it exists.
This isn’t just a lizard. It’s a warning, painted in brilliant blue.
