Sometimes I see something I am impassioned about and want to reply. But when I write a thing, before I press toot, I ask three questions.
-- Who wrote what I am replying to?
-- Are they an expert in the subject? If so, what am I going to contribute that they don't already know? (Nothing? Then cancel, but if you still feel strongly about it, post it on your own timeline. Don't @ them, they're busy.)
-- Has someone else replying already said what I did? (If so, back off... And don't post "Me too!")
If I can do this, I know more guys can, too. Don't be a reply guy.

Yeah, white male IT professional. There's a million of us on Mastodon, figuratively. I'm trying not to be that "tech bro". Trying not to be that performative ally who runs when their friends are in trouble. Trying not to be that mansplainer who talks over women. Trying not to be that guy I've been the last thirty years... Even if it's no longer the goal of men like me under US Fascism.
This can't be the world we made. There has to be something better than this.
I am a #BlueLivingInARedState and making plans to leave it (Texas) soon. I look forward to living in a place where 50% of the people voted for Kamala instead of 50. Fight fascism. It might be the last fight left for many of us.
