One of the guys at work has volunteered to help with the move. Won't be able to do it in one trip due to his vehicle, but a quick tape measuring of things shows that it can at least fit everything individually (and I can always just ride the bikes over).
Nosing about on maps near the new place to see what's nearby.
There's two scratch and dent shops* within a kilometre, and both deliver, considering I don't have a fridge, this is marvellous.
* shops that sell appliances that are factory seconds or transport damaged; much cheaper, still with warranty, but might have some scratches and dents (hence the name).
Hey fedifriends in #Brisbane, if you have a ute or trailer and would be interested and able in helping me move house next weekend (14 or 15 of feb), let me know?
I don't have much stuff, it should all be able to go in one trip.
Northside.
I can offer petrol and pizza or whatever you consider fair.

Tonight in Weird Shit In The Warehouse:
Apparently work sells eggs, in perfectly normal cardboard egg cartons.
The eggs are made of coloured chalk.
We all just collectively "wtf?"d over it for a moment, before continuing on as usual.

Having lunch in the park as usual, a woman walking her dog just stopped for a quick chat about nothing in particular.
An unexpected moment to treasure.
Hey Fedi, ever heard of Cow Lotto?
Just randomly reminded of this. I grew up in a country town in australia, and every year we had a festival in the spring.
There was the usual baking competitions, fruit and veg competitions, and so on.
There was also Cow Lotto:
Take a grassy paddock, use a line marker to split it into a grid of 100 squares, and put a cow in the paddock.
People could 'buy' a square for a dollar or two, and if the cow shits in your square, you win (five or ten dollars I think).
Also everyone gets the fun of hearing loud speaker announcements like "it looks like the first draw in cow lotto is just coming out now." Or the chaos of "It's on the line, we're gonna have to measure it!"
βThe architect said the wavy glass facade was inspired by the Brisbane river.
The Brisbane river does not have waves.β

Amusing moment when I was visiting family down south last month:
Cousin: "So when <grown-child> was diagnosed with #autism we started looking into it more, and we think it might actually be quite common in the family."
Table of 30+ related folks: nods in sync
Because I'm curious: What's your preferred way to cross between platforms at a train station?
Particularly for disabled folk, bicyclists, and those who can't use the stairs (or would rather not).
Note that barrow crossings (crossing the tracks at rail level) are deliberately not included for safety reasons.

There's been some roadworks on the way back from work for the past couple of nights; on a stretch I usually go pretty fast along.
So I've actually had to slow down and watch my speed, as the limit through the roadworks is slower than my usual.
A fairly rare experience.
