I did like 4 or 5 weeks on Schopenhauer as an undergrad and literally all I remember is he pushed a woman down the stairs and scheduled his lectures at the same time as Hegel because he hated him and was a petty bitch.

I didn't quit academia, I simply recognised that desire (for a job) inevitably causes suffering (admin, grant writing) and perpetuates the endless cycle of death and rebirth (moving cities for postdocs).
I transcended academia.
Hello. I am (1) a former academic (2) now working in a non-academic job and (3) someone who works in the tech sector (4) with a non-traditional background. If you are a (1) or a (4) and want to be a (2) or a (3), and would like some advice or support, get in touch.

New #introduction since the old one is now factually inaccurate.
I work for a tech firm, but I used to be an academic (philosophy). I'm a self taught programmer and data nerd. Interested in history, science, maths, gardening, dumb jokes, indie video games, science fiction, programming languages, philosophy and parenting. Sceptical of capitalism, the current state of AI, cryptocurrencies.
It's hard to keep up with who is currently on strike, but solidarity with whoever it is this week. ✊![]()
