@StillIRise1963@mastodon.world oh, they know they created the problem, the just dont want the public to view it that way, they want to criminalize the people who suffer from the problems they create, in order to create new sources of income (private prison system like the ones here in AZ, that are for profit prisons that billonaires get richer from...) here in hellizona, if you are evicted from your apartment, or forclosed on in your home, and it leaves you homeless, and then you dont go to one of the extremely few, extremely overpoplated, cramped, and dangerous shelters, and are caught on the streets, you are subject to arrest now, charged with some trumped up BS and sentenced to prison, which of course gives you a criminal record, which makes it harder to get a job once your out, which makes it harder to get a new place, which puts you right back where you were, and likely right back into the "penal system" and if your a POC or other minority, you are 50x more likely to get max sentence and almost 100x more likely to be arrested in the first place. where if your basic cis white dude, more often then not, the cops will just tell you that you cant sleep there and move on... so even being "safely" homeless is a white cis privelege.. go figure...
@StillIRise1963@mastodon.world there used to be an area in downtown phoenix called "the zone" it was a place that was mostly run down, fairly dangerous to be in at night, then the homeless population moved into the area, cleaned up a lot of the trash, created a situation where there are less crimes happening, because there are more chances of something being witnessed, so businesses moved back into the area, then the business owners decided to complain to the police and city that the homeless peoples camps were a danger, an eyesore, and that supposedly the homeless people were harassing their customers, so POOF, all of the sudden, the people who made the area hospitable to these businesses were a problem and phoenix decided to do something about it, first they swept the area, stealing all the possessions these unfortunate people had in the world, and then harrassing them to get them to move out of the area, and now the police drive through the area, arresting any homeless (non-white, non-cis) people who are still in the area.. the state supreme court said they couldnt do that, so the rich white cis people who run the government, sued over that court, and won under the claim that the homeless people in the area were a danger to the general public... its a total crock, but thats how these rich people get what they want... if they cant do it by using the police directly, they use the courts and then have the police enforce the courts decision, and if the courts disagree with them, they go above that court to the next level, and keep going until either the people cant afford to keep going, or till they get the judgement they want, which ever comes first... its sickening in reality.
