Summer decided that I needed a hug. She carefully crawled right on up.
She is a lap dog at heart.
A Summer hug is the best way to start my day.

Summer is so happy her pal came home.
He brought me a bag of bandages and instructions for taking out stitches, but at least he is home mostly in one piece.
I sat while he told me the highlights of his day.
The medical providers all asked if he would like them to mask. He did and they did.
The stopped for lunch because he thought In and Out would be a treat and it wasn't.
He saw a tanker drop retardant on a fire close by.
His eyes are healthy.
We are waiting for a pathology report.
Now Summer will feel less anxious about eating because her family is all home.
We are still waiting for my husband to get home from his appointments.
Summer will wait until he is back in his recliner before she will relax and eat a meal.
She misses him.
I am trying to keep her entertained between chores.
I can smell a skunk nearby outside so she doesn't get to hang out on her front acre without me for now.
Tossing toys back and forth on the inside stairs is a good distraction.

Summer is a little down in the dumps, so I took her next door to visit our neighbor who is going through radiation treatment. She was ever so gentle and affectionate with him. I think our visit cheered them equally.
He says petting Summer and seeing how happy she is to visit brings his blood pressure down better than any prescription.
After we got back into the cooler temperature of our house we decided to write to some of our friends who aren't close enough to visit. Most of the cards are pop up flower bouquets.
Summer says she is ready for a nap. I'm going to curl up with a good book.
Stir fry for dinner tonight.
Summer and I went to the garden to pick some green beans, shelling peas and tomatoes.
We got distracted by the flowers.
A colorful side quest.
We did manage to harvest the veggies too. At least enough for dinner.

I never got around to posting the sunset last night. I went to bed early.
It was a good thing I got some sleep before our power went out. P G &E called our landline three times in the middle of the night because we are listed as medically dependent on our power.
I finally got a couple of ho
urs of sleep.
Summer and her pal slept through all the excitement. They are perky this morning. Me not so much.
Good morning, Mastodon.

Meet Gus.
Gus is approximately one year old today.
He was adopted by my friend and his exact birthday is unknown so we celebrated today.
He is very small but perfectly beautiful.
Her constant companion and the center of her world.

This might sound odd but one of my favorite things to do is to refill my husband's pill holder. I parcel out his pills which might be different combinations depending on the day of the week or state of his health.
Every Saturday I start with a whole week of empty compartments.
Another week gone.
Another week together.
Another week of companionship.
Another week of love and laughter.
One more week.
Taking one week at a time turns into months and years.
If you ever drive to northern California on hwy 101 be sure to side quest down the Avenue of the Giants. It is a beautiful diversion.
Today, the Avenue was on our way to the river. Summer was deserving of some fun. The temperature was 73°F and the sky was blue. Hard to resist.
My husband's family has their own redwood grove on the avenue. I pointed the sign out to Summer, but her attention was already looking forward to jumping in the Eel River.
A worthwhile afternoon adventure.
A couple of scenes fom our drive.
