Kim Davis, a former clerk who refused gay couples, brought the appeal.
ByDevin Dwyer, August 11, 2025

At the time Obergefell was decided in 2015, 35 states had statutory or constitutional bans on same-sex marriages, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Only eight states had enacted laws explicitly allowing the unions.

So far in 2025, at least nine states have either introduced legislation aimed at blocking new marriage licenses for LGBTQ people or passed resolutions urging the Supreme Court to reverse Obergefell at the earliest opportunity, according to the advocacy group Lambda Legal.

In June, the Southern Baptist Convention -- the nation's largest Protestant Christian denomination -- overwhelmingly voted to make "overturning of laws and court rulings, including Obergefell v. Hodges, that defy God's design for marriage and family" a top priority. a15d70a1980396cf.png Samuel Smith ✅

@ai6yr the article says, “When you make claims that have been proven false time and time again about safety and efficacy of vaccines, that can cause unintended consequences.”

The problem I see is giving the benefit of doubt here. How do we know the consequences are unintended? Consistency in messaging indicates purpose.

ec4a6a5872a5f1db.png Why insurers worry the world could soon become uninsurable
Published Fri, Aug 8 2025, Samuel Meredith

"...Top insurers fear the climate crisis could soon outpace industry solutions, effectively threatening to make entire regions around the world uninsurable.

Günther Thallinger, a board member at Allianz

, one of the world’s biggest insurers, recently outlined how the world is fast approaching temperature levels where insurers will no longer be able to offer cover for financial services, such as mortgages and investments.

In practice, this scenario implies some may face difficulty being able to afford home insurance cover, which is typically a prerequisite for getting a mortgage.

In a LinkedIn post published in late March, Thallinger made the case for rapid decarbonization, pointing out that entire asset classes were “degrading in real time” as extreme weather events take their toll. Perhaps most strikingly of all, he warned the worsening climate crisis appears to be on track to destroy capitalism..." 78eed0ce1d0c9902.png An American Flag graphic with the following words superimposed:

Racism is ignorant and based on lies.
Housing, Utilities, Food/Water, and Healthcare are BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS, not opportunities to profiteer.
Being LGBTQ is an innate biological reality, not a choice. Real Science doesn't care about your myths.
All Spiritual Paths are Equally Valid. There is no "one true" religion.
If you don't want accurate history taught because it makes your religion or culture look bad, that's because it was bad - and needs to be taught.
Women are not property or livestock. Women have an absolute right to an abortion and contraception. Mind your own business.
If your business can't pay living wages to your employees, you are cosplaying "business owner' and you deserve to go out of business.
Climate collapse IS HAPPENING and is going to wreck the economy & make the planet largely uninhabitable, and YOU are responsible for changing your lifestyle to stop it. 74411bf57d9707c6.png She couldn't keep

No, that is too many battles. Put some back.
[Sigh] Still too many. Pick fewer battles.
No, that is still too many battles.
