Snake post

I was hiking in this general area the day this happened. Why on earth would anyone pick up a rattlesnake?? It's really sad but also was totally preventable. Snake bite treatment in the wilderness is something I'm really not very clear on, there's so much conflicting information. I generally focus on avoiding snakes while in the wilderness and wearing boots. A couple people I know have been bitten on the foot walking around in sandals.

Cat shenanigans. #CatsOfMastodon

I just read that there's a beef boycott in response to the Texas gerrymandering shenanigans and I'm here for it. Plus who can afford it anymore anyway? If anyone needs tips on making tofu that tastes like a variety of meats or how to make your own seitan, hit me up. I'm making a batch of tofu ground beef today that tastes exactly like beef and as a bonus it's only ~$3/pound. Here's the beef recipe I'm using today, I can't find veg beef bouillon locally so I mail order it.

1 block super firm tofu
1 tsp vegan beef bouillon (or regular bouillon)
2-3 Tbsp soy sauce or tamari
1 Tbsp steak sauce (I like Dale's)
1/2 tsp liquid smoke
2 Tbsp nutritional yeast
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
2 Tbsp oil
2 Tbsp water
1 Tbsp tomato paste (optional)
1 Tbsp blackstrap molasses (optional)

Preheat oven to 350F. Open up tofu and drain. Crumble up the tofu into ground beef size and put in a bowl. Mix up the rest of the ingredients in another bowl and mix well. Pour the marinade over the tofu and mix well. Either oil a baking sheet or use a silicone liner/parchment paper. Spread the tofu out on the baking sheet. Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until the tofu is slightly dried out/chewy. The first time you make this check on it at 30 minutes to see progress. You just don't want it to get too dried out. To use this in meals, put the tofu in a skillet and add some water to rehydrate it or add to soups/stews.
