Getting an early start on my New Year resolution to read more.
2025 Update: Much slower start this year. Finally finished my first book. And like Capote's Women, it has Babe Cushing Paley on the cover.
Hates Twitter. Hates other things. Likes many things, including posting about hated things.

Evening at the lake.
I love YA biographies. As a teacher, I tried to hook kids into a passion as it could fuel a love of reading, and biographies were a key part of that.
In November I saw this book at our library and checked it out. I read two chapters and realized what a treasure it was. I had to put it aside for a bit. Ignoring all the friendly reminders to to return it, I finally got back to it this weekend. It is amazing.
Yesterday, I realized it was written by @Teri_Kanefield@law-and-politics.online.
And two years after posting this, I'm making it my YA and kid books thread.
The #ChineseSpyBalloon has me thinking of Candace Fleming's book, Crash from Outer Space.
Fleming is one of my favorite authors. She writes children's books, but even as an adult, I find her biographies to be exceptional. Her book on the Romanovs is one of the best I've read about the family, and her biography of Charles Lindbergh is outstanding and somewhat chilling. America First is not new to our country.
I'm such a fan that she sent me this as an advanced copy. And she signed it. 💙![]()
My husband isn't on the School Board anymore, so we are including the current Board Trustees on every email we send.
I'm not foolish enough to think the Board is siding with us, but I am certain that we are disclosing facts that challenge the idea that the district has done nothing wrong.
"We requested our son be assigned to a different special education teacher, and the Special Education Director denied the request and implied that the only solution would be to withdraw consent for special education services."
