personal PSA, may be unpopular, privacy and safety, percieved hostility on fedi (in general; not necessarily drama)

FYI, I may start replying with reaction emojis in DMs to certain users, so if you see a DM with an emoji, that is basically a reaction or favorite that only you can see.

I wish I did not have to do this, and I don't know how else to say this, but reactions do not have a visibility selector like posts do, and I keep being put in a position where I have to refrain from reacting to posts from highly marginalized users when they could use the support, but also when reacting puts me at increased risk of being harassed by others. I have been in and out of that position since 2024, and as a sanctuary, I have decided to get past the limitation of reactions and its potential as a target for hostility. /serious

Same may go for replies to certain users. Strictly DMs.

This is why I have my follows only visible to myself.

Please boost and be supportive: Enby.Life announcement, directed mainly at remote admins and users (but also local users as well), mental health mention, a bit personal at the end (neutral)

I have something to say, but my words may not be with me right now, so please be patient with me: as an FYI - if you see a [☠️] on my display name, that means I am taking over for Hazel (the owner and head admin of Enby.Life) while she is dealing with personal matters (including her mental health); you can think of that as like me being a caretaker or part of a skeleton crew. The times I need to take over for her have been finnicky recently due to things I wish to keep private (IYKYK).

All this means is that not much will happen in terms of me being public-facing (i.e. announcements) unless there is something critical that has been verified by other admins.

While I am taking over, please know that, yes, like Hazel and other fedizens, I have feelings, emotions, and neurodivergences. Please do not harass or dogpile me for making a mistake, especially if you are an admin, because I am trying to keep Enby.Life, as well as Fedi, safe. That is especially important for remote admins because I cannot personally mute or block other admins without cutting diplomatic contact with them (since Hazel may not be in a good position to handle diplomacy).

That is all I can confidently say right now, but thank you for reading this and understanding both Hazel's and my situations as we administer Enby.Life.

personal PSA and boundary for those who want to follow me; queerphobia, abuse implied, politics-related

As a heads up, from here on out, if you are not queer or an ally a very visible ally, I'm not following you or letting you follow me, especially if you are on a general-purpose instance with 200+ users.

I wish I didn't have to make that boundary, but... I... just don't feel safe around people who give off a shred of queerphobia right now.

Edit: There are some other reasons for why I might not accept, but I wish to keep these to myself.

To users who have blocked me and unblocked me later on, including past mutuals that blocked me: If I know that you blocked me, I will not attempt to reopen ties unless you ask me to or send a follow request, but you will go through a vibe check like any other user.

Edit: Boosts are okay here.
