I logged in and booted my first virtual machine in 1976 and I've been online ever since. It's been an interesting trip.

I read a lot of Heinlein when I was young, and what I learned was that to get ahead in the universe (or just on Earth), you need to have superhuman abilities, superhuman skills, superhuman longevity, or superhuman wealth.
It took a while longer for me to learn that I would never have any of those.

@brouhaha@mastodon.social What I got from Heinlein was that women could do everything that men could do, that it was ok if women liked women (or if men liked men), or that two people could fall in love without even knowing (or caring) which was which.
(Iβm still waiting for the rest of the world to catch up to him)
@Nichelle@wandering.shop The most depressing thing for me about social media is the number of folks on the progressive left who seem to think that the answer to bigotry is more of the same.
Angry diatribes against people based on their race, gender, age, etc. by folks who should know better, i.e. people who have themselves been victims of bigotry.
