A bit over a week ago, I left my hat on the bus. Tired, I got up carrying my bag and umbrella, hat left on the seat. 
Today, a bus driver beckoned me over and said "I've got your bloody hat! It's on another bus." We then arranged for a pickup at a bus stop near home, an hour later. 🎉
I have quite a few other hats: a straw hat, a canvas drover hat, trucker's cap, winter cap. But this is my bus hat, it's flexible cotton/polyester with mesh sides to catch the breeze, and it folds up to go in my bag when the sun drops. I've had it over a decade (maybe 18 years?)
Be kind to your bus drivers, they remember.
