in 2017 i found myself between jobs and i spent three months writing about why rent control is good, from an economics perspective.[^1]
from the beginning i assumed no one would read it; itβs a self-published paper on a kind of obscure yet semi-controversial topic.
yet recently i looked my name up, and it has been:
- cited in a law review paper
- cited in a phd thesis
- cited in a book on tenants
- submitted to the Alberta legislature
and thatβs pretty cool!

This Economist Crunched the Numbers and Stopped Dating Men
Iβd call her a queer Emily Oster but thatβs a pejorative these days
