Looking south across the Chilliwack River (below, not shown) from Elk Mountain to Mount McGuire, the peak to the left. There is a rock face with trees and other plants. There's a ribbon of cloud obscuring the Cascade Mountain Range across the valley. Currently much of the valley is flooded due to an atmospheric river: Something that is getting to be a common event.

Evergreen trees surround the marsh. There's reflections of the mountain, clouds and trees on the still water. There's a beaver lodge center-left. I've witnessed beauty in many places travelling the globe, it's easy to take for granted the stunning place that I call home.

A hollowed-out log connects two sides of a dirt trail. Brightly lit skunk cabbage sit next to it, in thick mud. We're in an urban forest about 15 minutes from home.

Looking across turquoise waters of NordenskjΓΆld Lake to Cerro Paine Grande. The mountain is shrouded with moving clouds that offer an ever-changing blue sky. Returning to Chile for 45 days, in 48 days. We'll start with a 7-night Patagonia float from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales, in what can only be described as a rustic, 88-passenger expedition ship. It ain't the Love Boat. Here's to calm waters and clear skies.

A beautiful cougar lays, gazing in my direction with its big, green eyes. It's like she's asking me to come in for dinner: I politely declined. I'm captivated by her spots, that start at the nose and end of it's limbs, they get larger as the progress into the body. She's laying in front of a tortoise. I'm not really in favor of Zoos, but the outdoor, Amaru Bioparque Cuenca covers a mountain top with very large enclosures / habitats for its residents. The facility provide a good representation of Ecuador's biodiversity (in their native habitats), which I'm told is the largest in the World.

Beyond the mud and rock a narrow path below us leads over a grassy, rock peninsula to a lighthouse at the tip. Two people can be seen below on the path which follows powerlines over the hill to the lighthouse. There is a bright sheen from the filtered sunlight across calm waters. The cloudy sky has large blue patches. Is it part cloudy or part sunny, you decide.

Woodland Falls

Hiking Sawblade Trail with me bride and our 20-something nephew. It's a 9.5KM loop with a 25% scramble up a slope for about 400 meters: It used to be a scamper. I normally go the opposite direction: I had forgotten WHY, as I haven't hiked here in a while. #Scape

Woodland Falls, Summer Flow Edition. A gentle cascade makes its way down shiny, wet rocks to a small clear pool. It's a clear, sunny day, but everything has a mossy hue as this oasis from the summer heat has lush forest canopy above, and around it. I haven't done this trail for a few years, it's a moderate trail with some difficult stretches.

A road winds down, the jagged, rocky hillside is a stark contrast to the brilliant green, soft moss-like grass. The clouds are circling, this is almost mandatory on Skye.
