I'm a sucker for technical drawings of telescopes. I came across these today, of a @esoastronomy@mastodon.social Very Large Telescope (VLT) Unit Telescope, while looking up some info for my MAVIS project work. The drawings probably date from the early 1990's.

The scaly sausage came out of winter hiding again yesterday, so have some #LizardPosting

I checked to see if he was hungry with an offering of a couple of blackberries as a treat. He happily ate those and then went roaming around his enclosure looking for more, but I didn't want to give any more food just yet because feeding in winter can cause problems with incomplete digestion.

Since he was feeling active though I decided to get him out for a bit. Naturally this ended up, as it always does, with me with a lizard on my head.

#Introduction time, it seems. Hi, I'm Anthony.

I'm an "instrument scientist" working on astronomical instrumentation at the AAO in Sydney, which is part of Macquarie University and a member of the Astralis consortium. My job mainly consists of pretending to be a systems engineer with some pretending to be a software developer on the side (mostly Python). My main project for the foreseeable future is MAVIS, https://mavis-ao.org

I'm interested in all things space-related, tech more generally, hobby electronics/making, and.. reptiles. A lot of my posts are going to be photos of lizards, especially my pet Blue Tongue Skink, Jerry.
