Something to think of when you post images. In the past year, the use of filters has increased significantly to relieve the anguish caused by the flood of horrible news. Alt text is not only for low vision, it also can help hide undesired posts without CW. For example, I have a filter of a long list of names. If there's no reference to one of those names, in the alt text, I'll be looking at an ugly orange face. I beg you to be thoughtful with hashtags, CW alt-txt and name people in photos.

#Memory is so strange! I can remember my mother bathing me (at least 75 years ago) and the name of the principal of my grade school, and that of a radio DJ I met once, 56 years ago, but I can't remember what I came downstairs for and bring something else upstairs.

Good morning. I've enjoyed Mastodon for 8 years now. It wasn't a problem until recently, but I am convinced that the CW feature should be systematically used with the mention #uspol.

I am not telling anyone what to do. Currently, I'm obliged to mute people who post horrendous images or article shares about the violence. I want to see posts that make Mastodon what it is; more intelligent and thought-provoking than other platforms. I don't need to get news from a social network.

What is the age 18 for access to various services and products based on?
In 1950, maybe it meant something, but in 2025, with exposure to the world through the Internet, a 15 year-old is potentially as mature in any significant criteria as a 20 year-old.

I think any online verification should test maturity and judgement, based on answers to a few random questions, generated on the fly.

The world would be a better place for it.

It's tiring that when someone with a huge following says something, hundreds of commenters swarm in, regardless whether they actually have anything to say or any knowlledge on the topic.
