🌍🌏 Red-flanked Bluetail (Tarsiger cyanurus) 

The Red-flanked Bluetail is a small, shy member of the Old World flycatcher family. Males have a vibrant blue back, head, and tail, with a white throat and eyebrow, and distinctive orange-red flanks. Females and juveniles are browner with a duller blue tail and orange flanks. They breed in dense, coniferous forests across northern Asia and parts of Europe, migrating to southern and southeastern Asia for the winter. Tree swallows are small migratory birds with iridescent blue-green upperparts and stark white underparts. They breed across northern North America, from Alaska to the southern U.S., and migrate south to winter along the coasts of the U.S., Mexico, and Central America. They are highly acrobatic aerial insectivores, gliding more than other swallow species. Native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia, it inhabits open woodlands, gardens, and farmlands. Goldfinches are highly social birds, often forming large flocks, or "charms," outside of the breeding season. They are known for their agile, undulating flight and a pleasant, twittering song. The Green catbird is a species of bowerbird known for its vibrant green plumage and distinct call. The bird has a stout body with a thick bill. It is known for its cat-like meowing sound, which gives it its name. The green catbird primarily feeds on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates. It is a shy and elusive bird, often found high in the forest canopy. 

Distribution: Eastern Australia, particularly in Queensland and New South Wales.

Conservation status: Least Concern (IUCN 3.1). Vulnerable in NSW.

The Cape weaver (Ploceus capensisis) a small, stocky bird found throughout the greater part of southern Africa. The males [pictured] have bright yellow plumage with an orange-brown nape and crown, while the females are duller in colour with streaked brown and yellow feathers. Both sexes have a distinctive conical bill that is used to weave elaborate nests, which can be seen hanging from trees and shrubs. Cape weavers are social birds and are often found in flocks.
