Dear Every Web Site: I will never, NEVER use Google to log into you. Please stop asking.
Author's Tranquility Press got my phone number, and they keep calling thinking that I'll pay them for promotion.
ATP is 100% a scam.
Also: my books are not promotable. Nothing anyone does could make people want to buy them. #writing

Every time someone asks me about "how I self-publish," I flash back to a q&a at a con I shall not name, where I was on the "authors who make a living" panel, but I was the indie one.
A woman who probably meant well got the mic and said, "You do realize, sir, that this aggressive independence and hyper-self-reliance is nothing but a trauma response?"
I looked her in the eye and said, "So is hyper-competence."
So, yeah. That's how I make a living.
By Dog, I hate promotion. It leaves me feeling tainted. But groceries don't buy themselves, so:
hey folks! Coupon code MWL gets you 10% off books (not bundles) at https://tiltedwindmillpress.com -- buy print, get the ebook free!
WeTransfer just changed their ToS to allow them to train AI on any files you transfer through them.
Don't use there service, especially for work that you don't have the right to relicense to them (e.g., commercial work that's exactly the most likely to create the huge files WeTransfer specializes in).
(ETA: this is already going boom so I'm muting it.)

If I have to tell you I'm a "safe person" or "an ally" or whatever, I'm doing it wrong.

If you survived last night's Monsterdon, you'll understand why I had to write the #scifi folk tale I have on Kickstarter right now.
I'd appreciate your help purging this abomination from my psyche. Thank you.

I also have an assortment of free fiction on various retailers, including:
a short SF novel "Forever Falls." "There's no grounds for murder. There's no ground at all." Alien universes! Junior redshirt detective! A death that couldn't be accidental, couldn't be murder, and couldn't have even happened.https://mwl.io/fiction/freebies#foreverfalls
the first Prohibition Orcs tale. Bootlegging in 1927 Detroit! Cold feet and hot lead! Elves that need a good punch in the throat! https://mwl.io/fiction/freebies#orc
"Butterfly Stomp," the story that made people threaten me until I wrote the novel "Butterfly Stomp Waltz." Robin Hood meets Die Hard. Robbery! Explosions! Everyone's favorite bad guy!
"Wednesday's Seagulls," the first story from the collection "Vicious Redemption." The only thing worse than living with a zombie is surviving without one. https://mwl.io/fiction/freebies#ws

Or you can browse my whole catalog at https://mwl.io.
(Yes, the freebies are offered in the hope that you'll buy things. I'm exactly like Costco, except without money or power or market share.)
If we've ever met in person and you've wondered "Gee, how did he get this way," I finally have a solid answer.
