Glen MalleyMy knee-jerk reaction is to "wtf?" at people getting emotionally attached to chatgpt, but then I remember we also talk to our cars and miss appliances that die and need replacing, and attach deep personal meaning to "our" staplers, etc.
It's just what people do, and the thing talking back just makes it more likely.

Glen Malley@stopthatgirl7@famichiki.jp Like, just with regular old chatgpt? I've had fairly lengthy discussions with it and not once ever felt it was responding in any sort of friend-like way. What the hell are people doing with these things to get this kind of attachment?

Glen MalleyI'd been playing #Division2 for most of the day, doing solo stuff, clearing out tasks etc. Decided after supper I'd pop in and do some Countdown. First one went well, but second one just started terribly. I kept screwing up in stupid ways. At one point, I blew myself up with a sticky bomb. Decided I'd maybe had a bit too much today, so I logged and now I'm watching youtube.
