It's so fascinating to see the changes in one company's logo over the years.

"I will never use Flatpaks because I have to type flatpak run com.example.Application. It's insane Flatpak developers don't change it!"
Except you can add /var/lib/flatpak/exports/bin to your $PATH. This way, you can type com example.Application in your terminal, dmenu, everywhere. Also if you aren't using completions and insist on doing everything in the terminal, you have bigger problems.
Shout out to the Evil Skeleton (@TheEvilSkeleton@social.treehouse.systems) , who blogged about this 3 years ago. https://tesk.page/2022/09/28/what-not-to-recommend-to-flatpak-users/#aliasing-flatpak-run
Today is the last day you can use this.
When I first gave KDE Plasma a try, I mainly did so because I thought it looked great. And it does look great!

But when you start poking around the desktop environment's innards, you start noticing that it's not just a pretty face. It actually has some really killer apps included that have actually stopped me from going back to Windows. And discovering those apps is a ton of fun.

Mullvad ha pubblicato questo video per evidenziare le conseguenze delle proposte sulla sorveglianza.
Cosa accadrebbe se la sorveglianza potesse essere acquistata per la strada?

When ChatGPT was released 3 years ago I never anticipated how it could become a source of tensions with people in my life.
So to add to its many damages, it's a source of:
- environmental catastrophe
- economic bubble
- monumental job losses with bosses leaning into AI and laying off workers
- loss of critical thinking
- destruction of higher ED methods
- further isolation with people using AI characters as "romantic partners"
- dangerous medical advice (especially with reliance on it for mental health support)
(I'm probably forgetting other important things)
AND:
source of tensions inside homes and with friends when you have a person critical of AI (๐โโ๏ธ
โ) attempting to reason with a person whose default setting is: "I'll ask ChatGPT". Pointing out flagrant mistakes by AI seems to make their heads explode and get angry at the messenger. Ouf.
Sorry for the downer but I'm sure this is a pretty common problem...
Anyway, this morning I was given hope by a toot from @jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net and I should just keep focusing on that. And make sure my own child doesn't buy into the BS of AI... https://mastodon.social/@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net/115799050671506747
As someone who often conducts fieldwork in remote places, I find it really irritating that many applications now require an internet connection to function.

! GPG is not OpenPGP!
Yesterday, vulnerabilities were published https://gpg.fail but they don't affect #deltachat or other #chatmail clients because
A) We never used #gnupg for anything; we use the modern #rustlang #openpgp implementation @rpgp@mastodon.social, security audited multiple times.
B) #openpgp is fine, as modernized in #RFC9580, which already warns against several #gpgfail issues (gpg didn't implement that spec)
Please spread the word that #gpg is not #openpgp ... Thanks! #39c3
