Imagine a shared playlist that pulled everything from the FediverseTV playlist on youTube, but you could also add peertube, nebula, and other videos to this super list.

And maybe it had a way to comment and discuss the videos.

This sounds deceptively simple. Online applications tend to fail to catch on because it's too hard to log in, you need to make a new account, or there isn't an easy way to adapt use into the ways people already use tech.

This wouldn't be a small project at all.

One of the reasons I'm suddenly interested in sharing videos is directly related to AI.

I worry that I might watch a video and not know that it's AI.

A lot of AI is very obvious to me, but that doesn't mean that I can't be fooled. When we look at things together and discuss them we stand a better chance of catching deceit.

This is the invite link to fediTV. You can add videos on youTube by clicking "save" when you are watching them:

I've been adding most of the videos that I watch to the FediverseTV playlist, I think a lot about how Google has a rich history of the videos that I watch Yet, often people I know have never heard of any of it. Likewise, I often just don't know what media people are talking about.

I know daylighting most of your watch history isn't for everyone. But, I think a shared media landscape is important.

It would be amazing if this kind of sharing had an intuitive cross platform version... 1/

Years ago I did a video about "Link NYC" I was mostly concerned about the possibility of surveillance through the cameras. Link NYC is a massive system that puts screens on nearly every block in the city.

Mamdani has been cutting short informative videos about city services for linkNYC. He's using it to tell people things like "if you have a 3 or 4 year old it's time to sign them up for pre-k now"

Maybe he can really do this. No other mayor has used them like this.

Hey, people in other cities than NYC:

1. Do you have a way to charge your phone on the street?

2. Are there municipal information screens? Do they show ads?

3. Can you make a phonecall on the street even if you don't have a cellphone?

Some observations about how linkNYC is used:

* Emergency calls. This was the main reason something needed to replace the payphones. Even at time of removal payphones were still important for emergencies.

* Information network: the screens can get information to the whole city in an emergency.

* charging phones: they have USB ports where people charge their phones. Some annoying people complain about "homeless people" (how do you know) using them? IDK I've used them in a pinch.

I found another remarkable ant vase. This one has a charming surprise inside.

It's a harvester ant!

Is it silly to have an ant making bread? I assure it is not. Harvester ants crush the seeds they find and make them into a paste known as "ant bread" I suppose they don't bake it though...

Vase by Patricia Jones Jemez of Pueblo NM. She made many ant themed vases.

Ant Ceramic Art on Etsy:

There are some really excellent pieces of art. Maaan if I were a rich person with a house with a place to put a $600 vase I know exactly which vase I would have. :

I just wanted someone else to look at the nice ant art. Maybe it will inspire YOU to make ant art.

Is a house really a home without some ants?

My husband and I are not "two people who have a pet cat." No.

She is not his pet, he is, I think her legal advocate.

"My client is registering a formal complaint about the lateness of breakfast."

"My client may start formal proceedings against you if this healthy low protein diet program continues."

"I do not know the current location of my client, but I would point out that for this hearing such information is not within the rights of the court."

Does she pay him? How?

Bases. (decimal, binary etc) are best explained through examples.

"You can only write three symbols in base 3. These are: 0, 1, 2"

So you count: 0, 1, 2, 10, 11, 12 ...

I think the word "symbols" is confusing, but so is "characters"? Students don't think of numbers or letters as "symbols" or characters. The card sorting puzzle helps with this. But I'm always refining the language:

How would you put this as plainly as possible?
