I worked at Microsoft in the 1990s. One of our customers was Pacific Bell, the local telephone company. Dilbert author Scott Adams still worked at PacBell at the time, although he was rarely there. His mostly unused cubicle was in the same area that my contacts there worked, and it was a big ritual to bring newcomers to see his desk.

As we approached my stop, I got an idea. I stood up, grabbed my bag, and started heading to the door. But I stopped in front of him and held my phone up to his face. "Have you seen this?" I asked. He just looked and didn't answer. I went to the door and stepped off, not looking back.
Here's what was on my phone.
As we were going through the downtown corridor, a guy got on the train and sat across from me. I looked up and realized I really needed to talk to this guy. But I didn't know how to do it without embarrassing us both.

I went to Seattle for SEAGL a couple of months ago. I took the Link light rail from SeaTac to the university district where my hotel was. The train was about half full. I spent most of the time on my phone catching up on Fediverse posts, texts and email.
