It has its tail up and head turned to the left of frame. Its head is black with light blue cap, cheeks and neck stripe. Its throat is covered in what usually look like black feathers, but in the sun you can see they refract blue. Belly is white and wings brown. It is mostly crimson in colour but the wings are patterned in black scalloped green and blue feathers. The tail is dusty blue and its cheeks are also blue. Part basking, part occupying his territory. 

This photo shows the front half of the lizard, head tilted up to better display his throat colouring, which has faded a bit since breeding season. He's a green-grey colour with yellow-lined black patches. His back has wide black patches and short grey spikes, to give the impression of larger spikes than he really has. 91728abbe6413a76.jpg Two Rainbow Bee Eaters perched on a stick. They are looking intently in opposite directions, searching for flying insects which they'll hunt.

One is perched on a palm leaf stem (devoid of actual leaves) and has turned hits head upwards to angrily screech at another corella passing close overhead.
